PlayStation Home seems to be making some progress with both its name as well as its engine renewal.

We have reported that there’s been some reports this year suggesting that Sony plans to launch PlayStation Home. Today, Sony renewed the PS Home trademark in avery like manner. Since this is the third time that PS Home has been mentioned in the series in just a couple of months, it’s very possible that Sony has indeed got some plans for its failed live service.

This news was once again spotted by Thorites over on the subreddit r/GamingLeaksAndRumours. Because there’s been so much going on with the IP over the last few daysand in the comments, many are confident in their speculation that Sony is planning to launch its own competitor to VR chat. This makes sense given that the type of video game hangout that PS Home was trying to become has seen a huge rise in popularity because of the advances in technology. Some theories also suggest that the new PS Home will host virtual concert similar to Fortnite.

PS Home was launched on PS3 in 2008. It was shut down by Sony in the year 2015. While it did not find widespread success, it has retained the support of its fans, with certain fans starting the “Return Home PS5” campaign over on Twitter.

The rumours were dismissed by others before because it is common to renew trademarksthat are not used. This is done to safeguard the brand’s image and also to stop other companies from using the PlayStation Home name. The trademark of the title has been renewed twice in the last few months, and so has the SoHo Engine. It seems more and more likely that the legendary game will come back in some form or another.
