Women who have decided on breast lift surgery or mastopexy each have their own reasons for wanting to enhance their breasts. Mastopexy or breast lift surgery is a procedure to manipulate the breast tissues as well as the overlying skin to create a “perkier” breast mound and reposition the nipple/areola in a better position on the breast mound. Mastopexy procedures, which is usually cosmetic surgery, do not manipulate or sculpt the breast mound but simply reposition the nipple/areola on the existing breast mound.
Breast lift surgery can be performed by a variety of methods and there is no one method which is best suited for all patients. In most cosmetic surgery practices, the patient will make the decisions regarding mastopexy based upon their goals and expectations as well as their anatomy and willingness to take risks.
